Nearly 20 years have passed since the biggest enlargement of the European Union. In 2004, all the V4 countries joined the EU on 1st of May 2004. This means that a generation has grown up without any memories outside of the EU. In all V4 countries, the EU membership was positively perceived and welcomed. But what is the situation now, in these instable, unpredictable days? How nowadays youth think about the EU and V4?

With this project we offer a state-of-the-art curriculum on new media awareness, an innovative learning mobility activity with significant local impacts, and an extensive online campaign. With the products and activities we provide, young people in V4 countries can better understand and accept each other and become free from influencing attempts in the online spaces.

Instead of planning the mobility programme to be held in one selected country, we design it as a roadshow across all V4 countries with two-day stops in each during 30 June and – 12 July 2024

  • 30.6. – 3.7. – Budapest, Hungary
  • 3.7. – 6.7. – Nitra, Slovakia
  • 6.7. – 9.7. – Brno, Czechia
  • 9.7. – 12.7 – Lodz, Poland

Topic of the mobility in Slovakia: Active participation of young people can be seamlessly integrated with volunteering and hiking through initiatives like trail marking, community hikes, and maintaining cultural and natural heritage sites such as the ruins of Gymes Castle. By involving youth in these activities, they gain valuable skills in outdoor navigation and trail maintenance while fostering a deep connection to their local environment. Volunteering to maintain trails and historical sites not only helps preserve these treasures for future generations but also instills a sense of pride and responsibility in young participants. Engaging in community hikes and working on projects like castle restoration encourages teamwork, physical fitness, and an appreciation for cultural heritage. These experiences provide young people with hands-on learning opportunities and the satisfaction of contributing to the conservation of both natural landscapes and historical landmarks, creating well-rounded individuals committed to their communities and the environment.

This mobility will include 16 young participants in total, 4 from each country, with the following profile:

  • Aged between 18-30 years
  • Legal citizen of Czechia, Hungary, Poland or Slovakia
  • Motivated to learn about community building, critical thinking, digital campaigning and EU citizenship
  • Ready to contribute to the programme and the social media challenges
  • Flexible, open-minded, and mobile for travelling
  • Has basic digital skills and an Instagram or TikTok profile
